Hello Happy Bunny

So this week’s collection begins with Barnstaple Coffee Shop. They have added a new Chocolate Orange cake to their range, and I love this one so much! The sponge is chocolate orange flavoured itself, with orange biscuit balls and a slice of Terry’s on top. It’s been a while since I last went to The Chocolate Teapot in Bideford. I was wanting some of their Eton Mess, but there was none available! Nevertheless, all of their traybakes look gorgeous and I treated myself to two – Aero Mint and Chocolate Orange (I have a bit of craving for chocolate orange haha). Definitely a must for chocolate lovers these traybakes are full of chocolate pieces inside too! Back to Barnstaple, Green Lanes cafe had some Halloween specials last week. I had the Severed Finger Dog, £4.85 with chips. Whilst I applaud their efforts to get into the spirit (haha) of Halloween – having cut the hot dog like a finger – I was a little disappointed. This is the last box in my three-month subscription and it is one that will be missed. One small grumble is that the box always seems to be squashed when it arrives at my doorstep. I am a little fearful that something will be broken or fall out, but thankfully this has never happened. So in my last box... Kabaya Fish Gummies - I really like the packaging. The sweets are ok - citrus flavoured. Kawaii food sticker set - yummy Moomin Purse - although I have never been a big Moomin fan, it does look quite good! Fragrance beads - this is something I have never really seen before. The pot is really cute. Thank You Dog greeting card Squishy Bread Charm - kawaii charms are a favourite of mine, and this is another one to add to my collection! DIY Jewellery Kit - something to fill my time with, it reminds me of when I used to love making bracelets when I was younger Bunny Pen - this is supposed to be a "neck stretching bunny pen" which looks quite bizarre. I

So I have been back to Green Lanes Cafe a few times and have tried their specials. The first is ham, egg and chips. I also tried the Cornish pasty, beans and chips. These were decent meals at good prices. The portions are very big and filling, and plenty of chips on the plate! Another hotspot in Barnstaple is Lindsey's, a cake shop and cafe. The highlight is their cheesecakes - I have tried strawberry, mixed fruit, chocolate and mango and passionfruit. Last week, I tried their banoffee pie (I had a craving for banoffee...) and it was sublime!  Lindsey's also does a cheesecake loyalty cake where if you buy 8 cheesecakes, you get the next free.

Having taken a break, I used a promo code to get 30% off a one-off box from Super Cute Box. These boxes are always filled with many kawaii things and easy delivery (no need to sign or wait for the postman, it just simply drops through your letterbox!). The only difference is that this box doesn't contain the bracelet charm. As always, when you open the box you are greeted with a photocard featuring this month's bracelet charm. This one is bacon and eggs, and I am sad that because it is a one-off box, I won't be receiving this one! So this month's box features... Panda Eye Mask - I have been wanting an eye mask for better sleep for a long time, so my prayers have been answered! Plus, it is a panda mask, which is a bonus. Cute Cake Erasers - these look too delicious to eat! Fruit headphone plug - useful for protecting your smartphone from dust. I received the orange edition. This item I wasn't a big fan of; it looks very small and easy to break. U

Earlier this month, I received my second Kawaii Box and like July’s box, I absolutely adore the contents! This month’s box includes… Kawaii Neko Plush Mini Pig Spray Bottle Ice Lolly Squishy Charm Alpaca Tin Case Naru Naru Gumi Nomi DIY Candy Kit Korean Deco Tape Cute Polka Dot Shoelaces Macaroon Ink Pen Puffy Paradise Stickers Dinosaur Pencil Tin What I like is that there is a great mix of items. The DIY Candy Kit was quite interesting – I have never tried one of these before, and the picture of the sweets looks cool. The instructions are in Japanese but there is a picture guide to folllow, or catch a tutorial on Youtube. They are fairly easy to use, although my grape tree had half of it missing (possibly due to my “special skills” haha). There isn’t one item that I don’t like, I would highly recommend subscribing to Kawaii Box if you love cute things!

Some food and drink photos from this month… Macaroni Cheese with Garlic Bread, The Corner Cafe in Barnstaple. This was one of the specials priced at £3.50. This was delicious – portion size was just right and satisified my craving for cheese! Victoria Sponge with a pot of Earl Grey tea, Barnstaple Coffee Shop. Again part of their afternoon tea deal. The filling is a little too sweet but the sponge was soft and fluffy. All-day Breakfast Bap with Chips, Green Lanes Cafe. The bap includes bacon, egg and sausage. This is a filling and indulgent meal, very good value! Driftwood Coffee Shop, Barnstaple. This is a caramel latte, priced at £3.00. The pricing is similar to Costa Coffee but the coffee here tastes amazing! The staff are very friendly. Driftwood also serves food as well – I saw another customer order a sandwich, and they are very big indeed!

The sunshine made a spectacular appearance during our visit in Croyde, one of the most beautiful beaches in Devon. There is soft yellow sands, glittering blue sea, warm sunshine and ice cream! About fifteen minutes from the seaside are some small shops and places to eat. We went to the Blue Groove, which looks quite stylish inside. The lunch menu is a little limited in terms of hot food – we opted for the salmon fishcakes and beef burger. The food was nice, but a little expensive for what you get. There were also a lot of wasps around, which made eating quite uncomfortable. Another problem was ordering. There is only one person taking orders at the bar which can make the queues, and the wait, long. There are also lush greenery and farms in Croyde. We had a Cheeky Moo ice cream from a shop on the beach. At £2.75, it is a little dear, but I wonder if that is because it was at the beachfront. This is the first Kawaii Box I have received. Although it is for July, I just received it today. The box was slightly damaged but the contents were fine. I have opted for a three month subscription, making the boxes cost about £12 per month. DIY Candy Bracelet – this looks quite good, I can’t wait to try it! Squishy doughnut mirror – so cute…I want to eat it, and squish it, and look at my hair! 3. Korean Glitter Glue set – quite a big set, which I was surprised at. The last few weeks have been wonderful weather, giving me time to enjoy the summer while it lasts! And where better it spend it than the beaches in Devon? First, we went to Ilfracombe –  a small town that has plenty of shops, cafes, entertainment and sand. We had lunch at The Ilfracombe Fryer, a fish and chip takeaway and restaurant. The restaurant was very busy – we managed to get the last table. We had to wait a while to order, before we caught the attention of one of the waitresses at the counter. The food was tasty and well priced. I had the scampi and chips. There are magnificent views of the sea and cliffs in Ilfracombe. Visitors often walk up the big hill to enjoy the sea breeze and see the whole of the town from the top.     There is also an Hockings ice cream van, famous ice cream in Devon. For those who like plays and shows, there is the Landmark theatre. During the day, there is also a cafe to take a break. Iflramcombe has also transformed its public gar
