I recently returned from a weekend from Edinburgh. It's July, so there were warm sunny spells...and because it is Scotland: wind, rain and gloomy skies. There is so much one can do in Edinburgh, but sadly, we didn't have the time. During my holiday, we saw Edinburgh Castle, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh Zoo, National Museum of Scotland and the Museum of Childhood.
Edinburgh is packed with tourists; you can tell it is a popular place to visit. The buildings are quite old and show the historic architecture that the city is famed for. Walking along the Royal Mile, there are a plethora of Scottish souvenir shops and pubs. Grassmarket is where you would find quirky gift shops, small cafes and artisan bakeries. Princes Street features many of the branded shops you see in many cities, showing a modern side to the city. This is indicative of the old and the new which reflects how the city appeals to many people.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. My only regret is that I didn't get to see everything!
