Kawaii Box - August Edition

The last Kawaii Box I received in my three month subscription arrived at the beginning of September. This time, I got…

This box wasn’t perfect. The rings seem cheap, they arrived broken and it is not something I would wear anyway. The phone bumper states it is only used for iPhone 3, which is a very old phone! I struggle to put it on my own phone so I fail to see what use this is for! Maybe a weird, oversized bracelet?
The things I always like in the Kawaii Box are the cute stationery and snacks, this time is no exception. I always feel excited to use the DIY candy sets, and the duck letter set has got me into writing more letters to my friends and family – a much cuter way to communicate!
This month’s box was disappointing. I feel there are more cheap, low quality items which are more targeted to a younger audience, which seems to continue with each box. I wouldn’t mind if there were less but higher quality items. It feels like it is more a case of quantity over quality, which is a shame as I have been a really big fan in the past.

Christmas is coming to Exeter!

Last week, I met up with my sister in Exeter. Unfortunately due to the recent bad weather we had a little train trouble but when we eventually arrived, the first thought that came to our mind was FOOD! We had a craving for Italian food and originally we wanted to go to Jamie’s Italian but it was fully booked. Nearby is Carluccio’s, which my sister said was quite good so we headed there. The front of Carluccio’s resembles a shop with cakes, biscuits and other Italian sweet treats which you can buy to takeaway. Behind this is a dining area – it doesn’t look particularly impressive or restaurant like. It looks like a cafe (indeed some people just ordered tea and coffee). The menu looks quite good – it displays Italian dishes with impressive ingredients. We opted for the Christmas menu – 2 courses for £17.99. Edinburgh - National Museum of Scotland

The National Museum of Scotland is a vast building filled with exhibitions and displays covering nature, history, art, literature and science. There are also sections dedicated to Scottish history and culture. There is so much to see, I could possibly see one spending the entire day here! Another bonus is that it is free admittance. We were only here for a few hours, so unfortunately we didn’t get to see everything. My particular favourites were seeing the displays on different world cultures, natural history and the environment and the pivotal role Scotland has played in popular culture and art through the ages.

Edinburgh - Eteaket Tea Room and Ibis Hotel

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon. Luckily for us, the sun was shining as we made our way to the Eteaket tea room on Frederick Street. Eteaket is famed for its teas, and they supply many local restaurants and other cafes. The tea room itself is quite spacious and full of customers, which shows how popular it is. As well as teas, light lunches and afternoon teas are also on the menu; something to suit any occasion. I opted for a high tea, with Royal Earl Grey tea. The high tea is priced at £8.45 and includes half a sandwich of your choice (I had Scottish Ham and Cheddar Cheese), scone (fruit or plain) and a mini cake (I think I had lemon cake). Tea is also included. Eteaket uses loose leaf tea, good quality and better tasting. The waitress also brough a mini timer. When the sands run out, the tea has brewed for long enough and is ready to drink after you remove the filter. What a beautiful cup of tea!
