Barnstaple Coffee Shop, Barnstaple

It seems like lately I am doing a tour of Barnstaple's eating establishments, and why not? The town has many hidden gems. This time, I went to Barnstaple Coffee Shop, and had my favourite: cream tea. Fantastic food and good quality Clipper Earl Grey tea. I would like to return, and try one of their all-day breakfasts, or any pieces of cake which catch my eye...

The Corner Cafe, Barnstaple

Another place I have heard good things about is The Corner Cafe in Barnstaple. Situated at the end of the high street, The Corner Cafe provides hot food, cream teas and homemade cakes. It was very busy and both the top floor (which looks much nicer) and the ground floor was full of customers. I ordered an English tea and an FFLT (fish finger, lettuce and tomato, I think) sandwich. There was an incident in which I found a hair in my food, but the staff dealt with the situation very quickly and well, and offered to make me a fresh lunch. The food itself was a very big portion, very filling! The idea of a fish finger sandwich reminds me of when I was younger. The chips are also said to be homemade. The staff are very friendly and happy, which makes the experience very good. The food is not too expensive either - good if you are looking for a quick bite to eat whilst in town.

My Little Box May 2015: The Provence Box

I saw adverts for My Little Box on Facebook, checked out its website, and gave it a go! For £11 a month and £3.95 P + P (although I used the SPRINGTIME code to gain free postage for the first box), you receive a box containing beauty samples and products, a magazine, a print and lifestyle items too. I received my first box a few days ago, and was it worth the wait? I am not too sure. First of all, here is the box... Included is a drawstring canvas bag containing the beauty products, a box entitled "Sunny things inside" and the print, dress-up doll magnets and the magazine tied up with a ribbon. One of the beauty products, the shower gel, was already open and had leaked inside the bag, which was annoying. The beauty products are actually small samples, showcasing the best of L'Occitane, a well known and good quality brand. However, most of these products have been given away as a free gift from L'Occitane themselves. You can already get i

Cake Time!

These are from the Afternoon Tea range from Marks and Spencer. This is from a box of mini cupcakes, with three flavours: Blackberry Sundae, Earl Grey Vanilla and Coffee and Walnut. All are small and sweet! "Yum! I like this one very much!^^"

Pastel de nata - Portuguese Egg Tart!

I was very surprised to see these pop up in Pasty Presto, a bakery in Barnstaple! Portuguese egg tarts are famed for their flaky, crumbly pastry filled with a delicious custard.  Yum!

Tea By The Taw, Barnstaple, Devon

Last week, I went to Tea By The Taw in Barnstaple, which was in the news recently when David Cameron visited as part of his campaign trail. Described as a vintage tea room, the interior lives up to its name: tea pots and cups adorn the walls, old posters and music add to its charm. The bathrooms feel quite homely, nice and spacious. Instead of paper towels, there is a basket of actual hand towels are provided, after which they are put in a basket when they will be rewashed (good for the environment too). It makes one customer remark to one member of staff: "your toilets are the best toilets I have ever seen!" All of this, and the good quality food and drink, show that this tea room has a lot of heart in what it does, and that is what sets it apart from other eateries. This is a must-see if you are in the area. Situated by the riverside, Tea By The Taw has a wonderful view when you are eating Cream tea time! My table, table 10 - the same David Cameron sat at!

Travels in Bath!

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to visit Bath. I spent about a day and a half in Bath, not enough time to see everything sadly, but I had the chance to see some of the great sights! Bath is great in that it is easy to walk through. Having arrived at the train station, the first stop was the Sally Lunn Museum. Having done my research on the internet, the Sally Lunn bun is very famous in Bath. Every tourist is advised to try one! Five minutes we arrived - the building consists of three levels of dining areas, and there is a museum and gift shop on the lower level. The building itself is quite historic and retains much of its quaint charm. Upon entering, the place is quite busy - we manage to sneak a table in the corner by the window. What is said to be unique about the bun is that it is great tasting as a savoury or sweet dish. Following that, we ordered the smoked salmon bun and the dulce con leche bun. A cup of the Sally Lunn blend loose leaf tea Dulce con leche -

Molang!

Recently, I have discovered Molang: a cute fat rabbit from Korea! In Korea, you can get a lot of Molang merchandise, but it is also possible to find some online to deliver to the UK. I have started a mini-collection already haha! Far left is my Molang suction doll, about 13cm. On the back, there is a suction cup, so you can stick him to the window if you wanted to. Far right is my big Molang doll. This is a 25cm plush doll, with a big cute pink bow! The Molang Figure Doll Boxset contains five 3cm Molang figures. This one is the macaroon collection, and all five Molangs are holding macaroons. They like to eat macaroons. Next is the Molang zipped bag. This is about 20cm in length, perfect for make up or small documents. This is the strawberry version, and also contains a Molang charm on the zip! So happy!

Free Graze Box

Having recently heard about the Graze box service, I decided to give it a go. Graze (www.graze.com) puts together a box full of different snacks to be delivered to you at your convenience, serving as a snack during work hours or something to treat yourself to at home. Usually priced at £3.99 a box, the range of options on offer include dried fruit, cakes and biscuits, porridge and even soup! At the moment, Graze are offering the first box for free, so with nothing to lose, I ordered my first box. Ta-dah! It's arrived! It took three days to arrive, and fits through the letterbox, again making it convenient for the customer. Inside the box... To start you off, Graze has selected four random snacks for you to try. Enclosed in the box, are four small pots, as well as a welcome leaflet and a piece of paper to tell you what snacks you have. Super Carrot Cake and Sour Cream and Garlic Crostini When I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised. There was nothing in t
